Are you tired of having to reach for your glasses first thing in the morning or being dependent on your contacts? If you are interested in freedom from glasses and contacts we offer Lasik and PRK for vision correction and treatment of glaucoma and diabetes.
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the world. Glaucoma has been named the "silent thief of the night", because there is no pain or symptoms until the disease is advanced enough to be making an impact on your vision. There is currently no cure, but it can be controlled, if detected early. Treatment includes eye drops and laser treatment to lower eye pressure, as well as surgery in advanced cases.
As we age, so do our eyes. The lens of our eye can gradually become cloudy, which can cause obstruction and at times scatter light as it enters the eye, resulting in blurred vision that glasses cannot improve. Often these changes begin in your early forties and fifties, but do not become noticeable until you become sixty or older.
Here at Northwest Eye Surgeons we offer LensX, which is premium lenses and bifocal lenses, along with Toric lenses for astigmatisms
A major cause of vision loss in Americans is diabetic retinopathy. It is the leading cause of new cases blindness in adults from 20-74 years of age. During the first two decades of disease, almost all patients with Type I diabetes have retinopathy, and greater than 60% of patients with Type II diabetes have retinopathy.
The goal of treatment is to maintain current levels of vision, but in some cases may improve vision. Early in the disease, patients may be symptom free which underscores the importance of annual exams.
